During recent years Proeftuin Zwaagdijk has developed into one of the most important agricultural research centres carrying out practical research in the Netherlands. The Proeftuin Zwaagdijk has a nationwide network with locations in North Holland and in the Westland, and trials fields at 100 locations spread over the whole of the Netherlands ( from Limburg to Groningen). Proeftuin Zwaagdijk is a flexible organisation which offers high quality practical research which can immediately be applied by those who have commissioned the research.

Proeftuin Zwaagdijk is specialised in carrying out  research for  the admission of crop protection products for the manufacturers. The GEP (Good experimental Practice ) certificate from the Plant Protection Service allows Proeftuin Zwaagdijk to carry this out. As well as this research for the admission, Proeftuin Zwaagdijk also conducts tests on crop protection strategies for interested parties. Controlled infection with plant pathogens is essential for research into crop protection products. The expertise at Proeftuin Zwaagdijk means that it is possible by artificial methods to infect plants for example with fungi, insects and mites.

Horticulture under glass is a sector which is changing quickly and where innovation in cropping systems, technology, marketing, energy and labour is essential. Proeftuin Zwaagdijk is specialised in the development and application of innovative and durable ideas. Our daily work consists of the testing of the sustainability and suitability of cropping techniques.
